Fooled 1499: Lucia and Marco by Wickfield Fooled 1499: Lucia and Marco by Wickfield
When I was working on the designs for my Fooled OCs, I decided just to have fun and go with a more fantasy version of medieval clothing, but of course you know I can't stay away from historical fashions for long!  So I decided to draw Marco and Lucia in the kinds of clothes that were actually worn in Italy in 1499, which is when Fooled is supposed to take place.  Lucia is wearing a patterned damask gamurra over a solid silk underdress with detachable sleeves, and I drew her circlet as a "ferroniere" which holds here lacy golden cap over her hair.  Marco on the other hand is wearing a short particolored doublet with bag sleeves over his striped hosen - if looks a little familiar it is because I already drew an accurate version of him a few years ago, but I didn't want to leave Lucia alone and besides, I couldn't not draw his period-appropriate, ass-eared hood a second time!  In fact, I think their historically accurate clothes could be the kinds of outfits they would wear if Fooled were a live-action program.  :)

In the meantime, you can check out Marco and Lucia's story in my novel Fooled, available from Amazon here:  www.amazon.com/Fooled-Nina-San…

Hmm, well judging by your historically accurate series you seem like someone that Loves anything historical or just plain history; and you're pretty creative so it shouldn't seem so hard for you :)

It's odd: she seems to my eye to be exactly right - 'Yup, that's authentic', but he ... My bells start to jangle: 'Surely not! Way too cartoonish!'

But I need to accept your word. My cultural conditioning needs updating, is all!

Haha, unfortunately that's exactly the kind of get-up a 15th century fool would wear, right down to that sea-monkey hat!  There are all kinds of depictions here: www.larsdatter.com/foolwear.ht…
