Disney Weddings Contest: Quasi's Gift

Description

It probably took Phoebus a long time to convince Esmeralda to "settle down," but she seems like the kind of girl who would try anything once - including marriage!  And once she agreed, they had a big fun wedding in the Court of Miracles.  Quasi's gift would be the best part of the day, though - he carved a special wedding topper just for the happy couple. :aww:

Okay, so this is my first entry to :icondisney-club:'s Weddings contest - I had to enter this one, since the members voted for my idea. ;)  I knew what I wanted to draw for my picture right away, but originally I wanted to do a more painterly style to give it a storybook feel.  After fighting with that drawing for almost a week, I decided to switch plans, and based the style off the old promotional Hunchback artwork instead. :)  This is specifically based on a Burger King crown I still happen to have from 1996!

I used a fairly limited palette on this, I chose a lot of bright colors to emphasize the celebration theme.  I gave Phoebus and Esmeralda wedding costumes with a sort of Renaissance Faire feel - I wanted to give Esmeralda a veil, but she has so much hair I couldn't get one to fit, so I gave her a tiara instead. :)  I also gave Quasimodo a fancier outfit for the occasion.  I wanted to add some "gypsy" touches to the setting too, which is why the cake has colorful, jester-like details.  And I also purposely chose the combined sun/moon motif on the flag to symbolize Phoebus and Esmeralda's union in marriage.

I hope you like this entry, I can't wait to see what everyone else comes up with!
