This is my first entry for
's Sidekick contest - the villainous duo of Lord Fiorvante and his demon sidekick, Ugli. He'll be first to inform you it's pronounced "OOGLI" - it's Italian!
Fiorvante and Ugli are from my fake Disney movie, Fooled, about a court jester in renaissance Italy who goes off to set save the kingdom. The villain of the story is the evil sorcerer, Lord Fiorvante. Duke of the dark land of Il Moro, Fiorvante was balked by the King of Valona when he claimed that he had a hereditary right for the throne, and would magnanimously be willing to divide the kingdom with the unrightful current king…with private plans that he would later take over entirely and would henceforth extend outward and conquer the neighboring kingdoms. Of course, he was refused, and promptly sought revenge. Although the Valonians are unaware of the fact, it was Fiorvante who waged war on the kingdom with the help of the monstrous Outsiders. As a powerful sorceror, he was able to summon demons to help him in his cause, but they could not prevent his defeat. As he lay dying, he sold his soul to the devil, vowing to work chaos and evil in return for a chance at life. He is also granted the permanent aid of the Outsider demons, which, like Lord Fiorvante thrive on power, fear, and revenge. Lord Fiorvante returns in the guise of an old friend and eventually succeeds in capturing Prince Leo and plunging Valona into danger once more.
But no great villain works alone, and Ugli is Fiorvante's loyal sidekick and henchman. Ugli was one of the first demons Fiorvante ever summoned, but because the sorceror's powers were weak, he was only capable of summoning a lower-ranking demon at the time. As a demon Ugli's powers are not particularly great (in fact he can be absolutely friendly at times!), but because of his loyalty and stupidity, Fiorvante finds him to be a tolerable henchman. Which is a good thing - because even though Fiorvante now has the power to summon all the demons of hell, he still can't figure out a way to get his annoying first demon to leave him the heck alone!
In contrast to Marco, Leo, and the kingdom of Valona which is based on Italian medieval and Renaissance art, Lord Fiorvante and his lands are much more organic and based on the frightening works of Hieronymous Bosch. Green is also much more prominent in his kingdom, and he is the only character to wear black.
