In honor of my DAnniversary I decided to do the "Year of Art" meme, but instead of starting from January I started it from the time I joined DeviantArt.
August - I actually joined DA in July, but didn't start posting until I got my tablet. There was definitely a learning curve, and making digital art took way longer than expected! I drew my first DL drawings (I was only going to draw a few, lol), including my notorious Big Bang Theory crossover.
September - My traditional art style was tough to replicate digitally, so I played around with different techniques. More Dexter and CN art.
October - I was finally starting to get used to my tablet. I found a pressure sensitivity I preferred and started developing my favorite palettes.
November - Participating in swaps and group projects, and began created more defined lineart which is now a staple of many of my drawings.
December - Discovered Inkscape! I did tons of vectoring (especially Dexter's Lab) and experimented with a minimalist style.
January - Just refining my fanart a bit, developing more background skills and lighting effects. Opened my first commissions.
February - Brief foray into the Hey Arnold fandom! By this point my style was pretty well established and I could switch between lineart and painterly looks.
March - Busy month and not a lot of drawing. Branched out into different fandom art.
April - Training myself to take more time with my art, plus a digital painting I was really proud of! This was also the month I developed my first OCs for "Fooled."
May - Whee....colors! I also hit 400 and 450 followers and made a few tutorials to share.
June - Art block, ugh. Messed around with limited palettes and worked with old sketches to save time.
July - I have a style now, YAY! It mainly involves paper textures and lineart with a combination of hard and soft shading. I also have over 500 followers and a year's worth of DA fun.
It's been an awesome year with you guys. Thanks for giving me encouragement and helping me to grow as an artist, and here's to another great year on DA!!
And here's the blank if you want to do it yourself: [link]
Over the course of this time period I would definitely say that you have a range of different drawing and painting styles under your belt` I would see about trying to incorporate and build on all of them! I love the differences in the "quick, gestural" sketch look, vector clean look and the more painterly look within April!
It's just all do awesome!
