Disney Art Nouveau: Esmeraldaby ~Wickfield

THIS DRAWING TOOK ME A YEAR TO FINISH.

Got your attention? Haha, actually, the truth is I did the pencil sketch behind this drawing last October, started inking it this August, and finally finished it today. In fact, the desire to finish this drawing and a Pocahontas version finally induced me to purchase my tablet in the first place.

I made this to accompany the official Disney Princess Art Nouveau line. Wot, no Esmeralda? I guess techincally since she isn't a princess they wouldn't include her so I decided to make my own version. I also have sketches for a Pocahontas and Mulan edition, and I inted to do Rapunzel and Tiana...one of these days.

I hope you like this - it was, after all, a labor of love!

Well, if you go by her apparent authoritative status in the Court of Miracles (right behind Clopin), she could be considered a princess. Clopin's the gypsy king, after all.

OH MY GOODNESS! Yes, person below me, I want this on my wall too. I LOVE Esmerelda (and Pocahontas for that matter!) And this is AMAZING. HOW do you get folds in clothes like that?!

Practice, m'dear! I studied a lot of Art Nouveau/turn-of-the-century illustration before I did this so I'm pretty used to drawing folding and drapery like her skirt...
