Hi guys,
As of today there are 2 weeks left to the  "Design a Royal" challenge at :iconfooled-official: , where you can invent a character which I will include in a Fooled illustration.  There's still plenty of time to think up and draw  your character, so make sure to check out the details here.

Aw, thank you so much!  I have to say that I watch Disney/animated movies and cartoons almost religiously, so after 20 years I've developed a pretty good eye for detail.  Personally, I'd suggest you start by picking a couple of Disney films and watching them very closely to learn what you can about character design, stylization, and details - like if it was a school assignment.  You could also copy screencaps or try to focus on drawing just your favorite character until you get them perfect, you will learn a lot that way.  Another thing I do is read model sheets like these (these are from Hercules which has a very graphic style) to learn how animators achieve consistency: 3.bp.blogspot.com/_-YOK6-hJ5kY…

It really does come down to a lot of practicing, after awhile you develop an "eye" for the characters and the things you have to do to draw them and it becomes more natural.  Even though I've been drawing for eons I only learned how to draw cartoons in the past few years (after joining DA, actually), and I still have way too much to learn!  ;)
